Elections that use public funds give government money to candidates. This is done by using taxes. Thirty state and local governments have used public funds to help candidates. However, rich people, groups, and companies are the ones that give to candidates most often. Using public funds for elections instead could lessen the number of big donors. This could help stop corruption.
